The group was composed of students from a range of elementary grades and was accompanied by David Askew, the Director of Pro Bono and Community Service at Wildman Harrold, a Chicago-based national law firm that has adopted May. David states that he has found corporate partnerships, such as that with Hi-Cone, can result in opportunities for schools to engage professionals in substantive programs that are long-lasting and produce results that reach beyond the classroom. Because of May’s outstanding staff, the students have been able to connect to this program and be provided additional learning and mentoring opportunities that a program such as this offers.

Hidden Heroes. The Genius of Everyday Things.

We are pleased to announce the opening of the "Hidden Heroes" exhibit at the Vitra Design Museum's Buckminster Fuller Dome.  The idea of having a exhibit that featured everyday heroes came following the exhibition of "The Essence of Things - Design and the Art of Reduction".  The exhibition deals with things we use on a daily basis but which we seldom notice and know little about, despite the fact that they shape our lives and define our standards.   These heroes are presented by Vitra Design Museum in cooperation with Hi-Cone and are displayed with the inventor's patent drawings, historical and current advertisments and films, as well as the designs and art they have inspired.

Omission as a paradoxical intervention

The unveiling of "The Essence of Things - Design and the Art of Reduction", an exhibit opened in March, was marked by the publication of a fanstatic catalog. "Omission as a paradoxical intervention" is the title of the chapter in which our Multipack Carrier plays a main role. It represents the concept of "less is better".

The Essence of Things - Design and the Art of Reduction

From 20 March to 19 September 2010, the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein is showing an exhibition under the title "The Essence of Things - Design and the Art of Reduction". With over 150 objects and background stories, the exhibition in the internationally renowned museum building designed by US star architect Frank O. Gehry bears testimony to the success of an approach to design summed up in the 1960s by Prof. Dieter Rams ("Mr. Braun") in the words "less but better".

One of the products that successfully embodies this philosophy, and has done so for decades, is our multipack-carrier. Products like the multipack-carrier or the Minigrip bag with reclosable zipper from ITW, which is also on display, are of greater importance today than ever. The intelligent ecological balance sheet, sustainability, utility, functionality and the aesthetic of simplicity that these products represent have found new interest.
"Omission as a paradoxical intervention" is the title of the chapter on page 80 of the catalogue from the exhibition in which our 6-Pack acts the lead.
